Price War by Keyboard Manufacturers Yamaha and Casio in India
All of us want to compose and produce music of high quality. As budding musicians, we want workstations and professional keyboards at affordable prices. A workstation keyboard has rich features essential for performance, DJ music production or production quality music.
2014 has been an exciting year of bargain for all keyboard enthusiasts. It started with Yamaha reducing the price of PSR-I455 keyboards by 15% in January, quickly followed by 10% price reduction for its entire PSR series. The year 2014 has seen it all. What provides the icing on the cake is the news doing the rounds of Casio reducing the price of CTK-7300IN, its latest competing model with rich Indian features.
In the last 3 years, its the first time that we are witnessing a price reduction in musical instruments. Will this be followed by manufacturers of other categories of musical instruments also? If yes, then now is the time to buy your dream equipment and produce the some real music.

Who wants to be the next YouTube Kid Rock Star!!!
Yes, we know that you, your spouse, your kid and the whole family and neighbour is going ga ga over the cute little 5 year old YouTube
sensation who is rocking a guitar like Beatles did 40 years ago! Now
your kiddo wants to take guitar lessons and is harassing you to
locate a promising teacher. But before you enroll her into the localguitar class, here are some points to ponder over
1. How old is your kid?
8 or 9 year olds are not much trouble but a 5 year old needs special
attention which can be a drain on most music teachers. The younger
your child is, the more enthusiastic and patient her teacher needs to
be!
2. Buy the right guitar.
The right size, right handedness (left or right handed), right
hardware and good tonal quality. A cheap local guitar is a big NO. You
don't want those tiny fingers hurt! A Yamaha 1GL Baby guitar or a
Pluto, Granada or Havana baby guitar will be ideal
3. Do not pressure the kid!
Judging and pressurizing the child to demonstrate rapid learning could
be counterproductive. Every child learns at her own pace. Do not force
her to be "another brick in the wall". Creative pursuits like music
are self-driven.
4. Nor the teacher!
Bad idea to push the teacher too! Does not work.
5. Monitor the child's growth in a non-invasive way. Make recordings
of her favorite song at regular intervals and listen to them along
with the child and teacher. Encouragement at small improvements will
go a long way in boosting her confidence.

How to choose a Casio Keyboard
Casio has been the constant suppliers of watches and keyboards to the Indian market since as long as I can remember. In fact, as a kid I used to call every music keyboard a "Casio", another example of a brand taking over a generic name!
Deciding to buy a Casio keyboard is easy. These are the best, affordable keyboards for the beginner to intermediate level player that will not break your bank. You may want to consider a Yamaha Keyboard if you want a more expensive durable keyboard. That said, for a majority of players in India, Casio is the way to go!
Here are the key questions that you must ask yourself
1. Are you an experienced player and performer who will use this keyboard for shows on stage or in the club? If yes, then you may like to take a look at Casio XW-G1 Groove Synthesizer (if you are a DJ and club performer) or Casio XW-P1 Performance Synthesizer (if you are a stage performer)
2. Are you going to use your keyboard for music production? Noteworthy are Casio WK-7600 , WK-6600 and WK-3800 from the workstation series.
3. Do you want the sound, tones and rhythms of Indian Instruments: Tabla, Harmonium etc in your keyboard? Casio releases special keyboards with the IN suffix especially for the Indian market. These keyboards have built-in tones and rhythms from Indian instruments. Check out in decreasing order of capabilities: CTK-7300IN, CTK-6300IN, CTK-850IN and CTK-810IN
4. Are you an intermediate level player with several years worth of experience under your belt? Casio has the following keyboards which are rich in features: piano style keyboard, built-in tones and rhythms: CTK-4200, CTK-3200 and CTK-2300
5. Are you a beginner with the keyboard? Do not worry, Casio is the indisputable king of entry-level keyboards for beginner players and aspiring musicians. Browse through CTK-1300, CTK-1200, CTK-1150, CTK-1100, CTK-245, CTK-240
6. Are you a kid or a parent looking for a small keyboard for your kid aged 5-12 years? Kids love to play the keyboard once they get their tiny hands on it! Casio has the most affordable instruments which will be cheaper than most toys and make for a great gift for your child, not to mention the start of a great hobby. Check out Casio MA-150, Casio SA-78, Casio SA-77, Casio SA-76, Casio SA-47, Casio SA-46
What keyboard(s) have you played on? Is there any keyboard that I missed? Please leave your feedback in the comments below!
